Cults Academy is an Aberdeen City Council secondary school in Cults, Aberdeen, Scotland. It was the recipient of The Sunday Times Scottish State Secondary School of the Year Award 2008 due to its outstanding exam results in the past year, having been rated 3rd in 2005.〔 〕 Based on pupil numbers, Cults Academy is also the largest state school in Aberdeen. Founded in 1967, the academy has always played a key role in the community and the wider area. The school has various sports teams and societies, along with a large music set-up and charity organisation, CATCH. The old 1960s school building has been replaced with a new building on the site of its existing playing fields. The old building was used by pupils for the last time on 7 October 2009 and the first pupils to use the new building were escorted into it on 28 October 2009. On 28 October 2015 Bailey Gwynne, a 16-year-old pupil, died after being stabbed at the school. ==Exam Results== Exam results generally are above-average, with the school's aforementioned high rating evidence of this.
